The Los Angeles Lakers hired J.J. Redick as their next head coach, but they're still in the middle of the pack when it comes to their title odds.
The former NBA sharpshooter turned podcast star and ESPN analyst agreed to a four-year deal with the Lakers last week to take over as their next head coach.
ESPN Sources: JJ Redick has agreed on a four-year contract to become the next coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Rob Pelinka offered job this morning and Redick’s started working on a staff to surround himself with experience.Redick does not have any NBA coaching experience, but he has a good rapport with LeBron James and has plenty of years of playing experience in the NBA.
So, while Redick now fixes the head coach issue for Los Angeles, where will there be changes on the roster this offseason?James and Davis are given on the roster for the Lakers to truly contend, but D'Angelo Russell could opt out of his deal to become a free agent. That would limit the Lakers' ability in the trade market, and losing Russell would create a massive hole at the guard position.
