Lake Creek point guard Braedon Bigott signals in the first quarter of a District 21-5A high school basketball game at Lake Creek High School, Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, in Montgomery.MONTGOMERY — It’s in the name. Braedon Bigott made some absolutely big shots Friday night during a scoring run that put the Lake Creek Lions over the top.
“It was energetic,” said Bigott, who finished with a game-high 24 points. “It was electric and crazy. We sat down on defense, stayed disciplined and moved the ball. We got to the spots where we needed to be. We dished out, shared the ball. Once you get to the middle and move it three or four times, it’s easy money.”
Lake Creek hung in there at the free throw line as an Aedan Lewis drive to the hoop with eight seconds left was the Lions only field goal of the quarter. Down 11-7 after eight minutes, the Lions shot 1-for-9 and turned it over four times. “We all kept our heads up, which I was really proud of guys about that,” Bigott said. “When you get down nine early, all odds turn against you and it;s hard to get your momentum back going. Coach got us with a good timeout, calmed us down and sat us down.”
