Yikes, Deer Park was forced to four games Tuesday night, a rare feat indeed but it still...
Abby McCool earns high fives from her Deer Park teammates as she comes in for a rest during Tuesday night's district match. On a typical district volleyball night when the Deer Park High School varsity volleyball team departs a gym with one of their typical 3-0 victories, they make two moves to the adjoining bench.
OK, so it wasn't the prettiest of victories, but it still elevated Deer Park to a spotless 7-0 as the club began Tour II, while Dobie slips to 4-3 and into a possible tie for third place with Pasadena if the Lady Eagles defeated South Houston. "Their serving was phenomenal. We needed that for postseason. We haven't seen a Game 4 in awhile so we needed it. One of our starting middles is injured so it gave everyone a chance. I have nothing but great things to say about Dobie and the way they hustled and cheered. They were great teammates for each other. It was good to play someone like that," Deer Park head coach Cortni Cox said.
Dobie's best in Game 4 had the team overcome a 6-4 deficit by scoring five of the next six points. All of the points were due to Deer Park struggles including two Tatum Busch kill attempts that sailed wide plus Deer Park's eighth service error.
