Ruben Östlund's satire film The Entertainment System is Down just added Kirsten Dunst and Daniel Brühl to the cast.
Triangle of Sadness already blew critics and audiences away about a luxury cruise fighting for survival on a deserted island. Ruben Östlund’s next satire will actually take place on a plane this time. We were already excited to hearKirsten Dunst has played a vampire in Interview with a Vampire, a cheerleader in Bring it On, and Peter Parker’s love interest in Spider-Man.
The Entertainment System is Down took inspiration from Virginia University’s real psychology experiment called “The Challenge of the Disengaged Mind.” Participants weren’t happy spending 6-15 minutes in a room by themselves with nothing to do. The experiment pushed the limits by letting participants choose to touch a button to deliver a harmless yet painful electric shock. If you can believe it, a quarter of all women and two-thirds of all men pressed the button.
Ruben Östlund’s upcoming satire makes me wonder what limits the characters in The Entertainment System is Down will take.
