Nita Koom-Dadzie of Kingwood finished first in the Class 6A girls 100-meter dash during the Region III Track & Field Championships at Turner Stadium, Saturday, April 29, 2023, in Humble.Kingwood girls track coach Jeremy Dye had a tough decision to make Monday.
At the Region III-6A meet, Koom-Dadzie suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury in her right leg. She finished first in the 100-meter dash with a 11.29, a new Kingwood record and the No. 3 record in the nation.“It’s heartbreaking and devastating,” Dye said of Koom-Dadzie, who also finished with a silver medal in the 100 as a sophomore at the state meet.
