Kim Ng, former GM for the Miami Marlins, declined an interview with Boston to run their baseball operations department, MassLive reported.

Kim Ng, former general manager for the Marlins and first female general manager among the major professional North American sports leagues, has declined an interview with Boston to run their baseball operations,

Ng, Miami’s GM from 2021-23, helped the Marlins reach the postseason in 2023 with an 84-78 record but became a free agent afterIt’s unclear why Ng, who turned down her mutual 2024 option with the Marlins, declined to talk with the Red Sox.

Former Astros GM James Click also took himself out of contention after interviewing due to family considerations, the Boston Globesome potential candidates have not liked the amount of turnover the Red Sox have experienced in the front office over the last decade.

“While parting ways is not taken lightly, today signals a new direction for our club,” Henry said in the September release. “Our organization has significant expectations on the field and while Chaim’s efforts in revitalizing our baseball infrastructure have helped set the stage for the future, we will today begin a search for new leadership.”

According to MassLive, candidates outside of the Red Sox organization include Cubs assistant GM Craig Breslow, Twins GM Thad Levine, former Pirates GM Neal Huntington andNg previously worked in multiple organizations, including the Yankees from 1998-2001, but could take this year off, sources told MassLive.Darryl Strawberry was supposed to go to Israel
