A warning has been issued by police after they were made aware of a group of youngsters walking and playing on a frozen lake in Accrington.
The children playing on Platt's Lodge today prompted police to reiterate how dangerous it can be to play near, or on frozen water. It comes after the tragic loss of life of four children in Solihull at the weekend after they fell through broken ice on a lake. Officers say there is no way to tell how thick the ice is meaning the risk of falling through is huge. Anyone who falls into the water could suffer from cold water shock which can affect your muscles, nerves and brain power.This makes it impossible to get to safety or call for help.
