David Jones’ scoop and score from end to end set the tone for VASJ, which advances to face Youngstown Ursuline in next week’s regional semifinals.

BAINBRIDGE TWP., Ohio — As Villa Angela-St. Joseph coach Jeff Rotsky addressed his players in the end zone, a few turned around to notice a sign in the fence that read “double down.”

Kenston had blown out the Vikings earlier this season, but not Friday night in the OHSAA Division III, Region 9 quarterfinals. VASJ left Kenston Bomber Stadium with a 43-14 win that sends it to next week’s regional semifinal at a neutral site to be determined against top-seeded Youngstown Ursuline, another team that beat the Vikings this season.

David Jones runs back the fumble for a touchdown from end zone to end zone early in the second quarter. VASJ up 15-0 at Kenston. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
