Authorities in Alaska say Paul Rodriguez Jr., 43, drowned in Mendenhall Lake after his kayak flipped over. JUNEAU, Alaska — Video from a GoPro camera belonging to a missing kayaker confirmed the man drowned in an Alaskan lake, but authorities still have not located the man’s body.from Alaska State Troopers says authorities are still searching for Paul Rodriguez Jr., 43, of Juneau, who was reported missing to Juneau police on Sunday.
During a search Monday by Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Mountain Rescue and SEADOGS, a resident found a helmet with a GoPro camera attached, troopers say. It was confirmed the camera belonged to Rodriguez. The news release says the video shows Rodriguez’s kayak overturned on July 11 and that he drowned. It’s believed Rodriguez was not wearing a life-jacket or clothing that would protect him from the lake’s cold water.
