Han Dong’s future in Liberal caucus still up in the air via torontostar

The question of whether to allow the Don Valley North MP to rejoin the Liberal caucus will be studied by fellow MP Dominic LeBlanc, Intergovernmental Affairs Minister and trusted confidante of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Star has learned.

“I look forward to conversations with Han about whether he wants to come back and whether his fight to clear his name is ongoing his perspective on this,” the prime minister said after the Johnston report was released. “It’s his choice, but I look forward to that conversation.”to the Star he wanted to rejoin the Liberal caucus and felt “vindicated” by the Johnston report.

Johnston confirmed Dong had close relations with Chinese consular officials “at least through the 2021 election” but he dismissed two other Global News reports that suggested that Dong’s nomination bid was facilitated by them with his knowledge.
