Justified doesn't need Boyd Crowder anymore.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Justified: City Primeval proves the show has evolved beyond Walton Goggins' beloved villain Boyd Crowder. Justified was based on the late, great Elmore Leonard's novella Fire in the Hole, where the Stetson-wearing U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens travels back to his hometown and faces off against old coal mining buddy Boyd Crowder.
Maybe one of the best things about Justified: City Primeval is its lack of overt ties to the original show. It's entirely possible for newcomers to watch the miniseries with zero knowledge of Justified, while references or easter eggs are few and far between.
There Is No Room For Boyd In City Primeval More than anything, there's was no space for Boyd to appear in Justified: City Primeval. While Boyd had ties to the Detroit crime scene, his little empire was very much based in Harlan County, Kentucky.
Is A Walton Goggins Justified Return Even Possible? Justified: City Primeval is proof the series doesn't need Boyd to continue, but that doesn't have to rule out a future return either. Olyphant has confirmed there could be future revivals, and one that takes Raylans back to his old stomping grounds in Kentucky would be an event in itself.
