The man was later seen on video getting into a white Dodge Charger at the same McDonald’s where Johnson’s aunt testified last week she picked up Johnson the night of the killings.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Jurors in the trial of Armond Johnson, who is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, setting the fire to her home that killed their 6-year-old son and her 2-year-old daughter and killing a neighbor as he fled, saw video Monday of the suspected perpetrator running from the scene of the crime.
Jurors saw the video after hearing a DNA analyst say that blood found on a pair of black, pink and yellow Nike sneakers and a pair of Old Navy blue jeans that detectives took from Johnson’s home two weeks after the killing matched those that belonged to Collins. The investigator testified that the home’s double-pane windows did not shatter and prevented enough oxygen to fuel the fire to engulf the entire house, but the blaze cast thick smoke and soot. The two children died from smoke inhalation, and their bodies were found lying next to each other on the floor in Armond Jr.’s room.
Security cameras also captured a person in dark clothing chasing Cousin into a field after he got home from work. Seconds later, a person in a hooded sweatshirt ran down the sidewalk. The Nike emblem of the shoes glowed in the camera’s infra-red light.
