The lore behind Marvel villain-turned-hero Juggernaut is set to get a major expansion, as Spider-Man finds himself face-to-face with Cyrios,"the scion of Cytorrak," the deity whose supernatural power the Juggernaut's strength is drawn from. An upcoming issue of Amazing Spider-Man promises to elaborate on the role of Cytorrak in Marvel's vast cosmos.
Intriguingly, Cyrios is described as"represent the inevitability of time," a role in Marvel's cosmic hierarchy that might lead to a reinterpretation of Cytorrak's position among the publisher's pantheon. In Marvel lore, Cytorakk and seven other"demon lords" are ancient, powerful beings who operate on Earth through"Exemplars," avatars of their strength. While most readers will be familiar with Juggernaut, the other demon lords and their Exemplars have gone largely unexplored since their introduction.
The Lore Behind Juggernaut's Dark God Cytorrak Deserves To Be Expanded On Story Potential Marvel Needs To Actualize Close During Juggernaut's long tenure as an X-Men antagonist, he was largely described as following the will of Cytorrak; later, when the character firmly embraced heroism, a critical step in his redemption arc involved breaking his contract with Cytorrak, and stealing the power of the deity's Gem.
