A federal judge has ruled against a group of parents, saying they have no fundamental right to opt their elementary school-aged children out of reading books in class with LGBTQ+ characters.
The decision sparked major push back from many — including some religious advocacy groups, like the Council on American-Islamic Relations .After heated debate before the board of education, three families from different religious backgrounds sued the school system.
