Josh Brolin speaks to Deadpool and Hal Jordan punches something as Green Lantern in DC Comics
Josh Brolin's rumored DC role in Lanterns could finally redeem two of DC's biggest box office disasters. New reports state that Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in the DCU's upcoming Lanterns series. The series, scheduled to premiere on Max, is an intergalactic mystery featuring Hal and recruit Jon Stewart. The pair travel to Earth to investigate a mysterious murder with a dark secret.
Josh Brolin As Hal Jordan Gives Him Another DC Role Besides Jonah Hex Jonah Hex is one of DC's biggest flops. Close Brolin's first role in the DC universe occurred in 2010's Jonah Hex movie. Brolin played the titular antihero, a legendary bounty hunter who killed criminals throughout the American West during the 19th century. While it seemed like a perfect role for the Dune actor, the film was anything but.
Jonah Hex currently holds a dreadful 12% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 20% from the audience. It's confusing how the film got the green light as Jonah Hex isn't a popular DC character, so the film might not have done great regardless of the horrible word-of-mouth. It's an unflattering blemish on the filmography of everyone involved, including Brolin, who's carved out an otherwise excellent resume.
While Lanterns is still in development, it already has plenty of promise. The series' writing room consists of television and DC Comics veterans, including Tom King, Chris Mundy , and Damon Lindelof . Safran has also said that the series is "very much in the vein of True Detective" . The Green Lantern mythos hasn't had another live-action film since the 2011 film, and Lanterns is a chance to improve audiences' perception of the hero.
