CLEVELAND, Ohio — José Ramírez, looking to return to the All-Star game for the sixth time in his career, has a big lead after Monday’s release of the first voting totals for the Midsummer Classic. Four Guardians teammates joined Ramírez among the top five at their positions following the first round of voting results.
“The definition of MVP to me is the most valuable player on their team or in the league, whatever you want to call it,” Vogt said. “It looks different to everybody and a lot of times it’s the numbers which you can’t argue with, but what José means to us, it goes beyond what he does on the stat sheet. He’s definitely our MVP.”“I wish every baseball player played the way José Ramírez plays,” Vogt said.
But with Tucker on the injured list, and Kwan on a hot streak since returning from injury himself, the Guardians Gold Glove left fielder could find himself in the conversation as a potential starter if he continues to hit over the next three weeks.
