Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Punisher star Jon Bernthal responds to the report of him appearing in Daredevil: Born Again. The original Marvel TV era is getting its proper due in the MCU after years of being sidelined. First, Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye, respectively. The Daredevil stars are set to appear in Echo before headlining their own series, Daredevil: Born Again.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY But Cox and D'Onofrio won't be the only Marvel-Netflix characters to appear in Daredevil Born Again. Bernthal's Punisher will return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again. This comes years after The Punisher was cancelled at Netflix after only two seasons. While Marvel Studios and Disney+ didn't comment on the original report, Bernthal has seemingly confirmed his return. The MCU veteran took to Instagram to share an image of Punisher while remaining cryptic. At this point, the studio has still not made any statement about Bernthal's involvement with Daredevil: Born Again.How The Punisher Can Appear In Other MCU Shows or Movies It remains to be seen if Frank Castle will get his own MCU show or movie.
However, the Multiverse Saga has begun to explore darker territories and is continuing to do so. Some of the upcoming films that will be grittier include Thunderbolts, Deadpool 3, and Blade. Depending on if they get renewed, Moon Knight and Hawkeye are also additional options for Frank to show up in next. In the comics, the Punisher has ties to Thunderbolts, which begs the question if Bernthal could appear in the upcoming film in some form.
Even though The Punisher ended abruptly, the timing of his MCU return is more appropriate than ever. Given the massive popularity behind his character, it's hard to imagine Marvel Studios not already having plans for Bernthal after Daredevil: Born Again.
