I’d argue part of their overseas appeal is merely that they are distinctly American movies.When I venture off to see the newest Chinese blockbuster or the latest Indian action spectacular , it’s partially because I want to see what a “big” movie from a different country looks like and/or what’s big over there.

If it plays in China, it may do well there too both because it’s a comic book movie and because its “individual greed poisons the overall society” argument will play well in a Communist country.
