Former Pennsylvania congressman and three-star Navy admiral Joe Sestak entered the presidential race in a video announcing his candidacy on June 23, about two weeks before the first candidate dropped out of the race.

He's relying on his background in global leadership and military operations to set himself apart from the rest of the Democrats running for the White House.Hometown: Springfield, PennsylvaniaEducation: He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, earned Ph.D. from Harvard University in political economy and government and a master's degree in public administrationAfter serving in Congress, Sestak dedicated himself to public service through teaching leadership courses at the U.S.

His experience on the Armed Services Committee has helped to frame his policy on immigration. His plan targets the threats of the drug trade, gun smuggling and human trafficking while creating a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants living in the United States.
