Jimmy Fallon apologized on Tuesday after a SaturdayNightLive skit that aired 20 years ago resurfaced featuring him appearing in blackface to impersonate Chris Rock
The video made the rounds on social media over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, prompting Fallon, now host of, to apologize. It was part of the 2000 season and featured Fallon as Rock on a Regis Philbin-hosted talk show. Darrell Hammond played Philbin.
In 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this. I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.show defending the idea of wearing blackface for Halloween eventually led to her departure at the network. That fact was noted on several social media reactions to the resurfacedLate Night With Jimmy Fallonin 2014. All three shows are now executive produced by Lorne Michaels.
