RECALLALERT: J. M. Smucker Co. issued a voluntary recall on Saturday over select Jif peanut butter products sold in the U.S. and in Canada due to potential salmonella contamination.
The recalled peanut butter products have been distributed nationwide in retail stores and other outlets. States reporting salmonella cases are Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington.Look at the area on the peanut butter jar where it says"best-if-used by" date on the label. Right below that, you'll see a series of numbers. Those are the lot codes.
It is recommended by the FDA that those in possession of these possibly contaminated products, should dispose of them immediately.
