This is a statement that parties across the political spectrum should surely be able to agree on. That Trudeau said everything but this seemed to suggest that he had something to hide, which turned this whole affair from a story about a foreign power trying to exert influence over Canadian politics, to a partisan scandal surrounding the governing Liberals.
By this point, it should be clear to all Canadians that the Trudeau Liberals have not taken this issue seriously. Trudeau’s plan to get NSICOP and an intelligence oversight agency to look into the matter seems largely superfluous given that NSICOP has been producing reports on election interference for the past 3½ years, only to have them sit on a shelf collecting dust.
