The K-pop singer talks to Harper's Bazaar about putting on a persona for the stage, and how different she is in private.
Jennie’s ideal free night, she says, involves spending time with her friends and relaxing at home watching Game of Thrones with some snacks and maybe a glass of wine. In real life, she is nothing like the sultry, posh, outgoing persona she puts on for the stage, where she is Blackpink’s Jennie, world-famous K-pop icon Jennie. “Anyone who meets me will say I’m so far from what I represent as me onstage,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar in her new cover story. “I would never say that I’m lying there.
”As she embarks on a journey to create new music as a solo artist, Jennie also hopes she will have the courage and be given the space to be more raw with her fans and with her image.“You should be you. It might not seem as glamorous as who you were,” she reflects. “Blackpink Jennie will always be a part of me, but you will also get to experience this new side.” A lot of it, she admits, has to come from her.
