Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Jenna Ortega reveals that she auditioned for Denis Villeneuve's Dune. While Ortega has been acting for roughly 12 years, she has recently become one of the most sought-after actors today. While only in her early 20s, she had plenty of starring roles in projects like Scream, Miller's Girl, and Wednesday. Although her filmography is rich in the horror genre, the young actor almost had a sci-fi franchise in her resume.
I auditioned for Dune when I was about 15. I remember just being a big fan of that film and the franchise and everything like that and being really excited for that interview because Denis is one of my favorite filmmakers. I think it was Chani. I think it was Zendaya's, but they weren't saying that. Everything was very secret.
With Chani and Paul expected to be close in age, Ortega would have been too young to star opposite Chalamet since they have a seven-year age gap.
