LeDee joins Michael Cage, Kawhi Leonard and Malachi Flynn as the only Aztecs in the Division I era to earn the national honor
Jaedon LeDee became the fourth San Diego State basketball player named an Associated Press all-American, and here’s maybe the best part for him: The other three — Michael Cage, Kawhi Leonard and Malachi Flynn — all played in the NBA. If there was any disappointment, it was that LeDee made the third of three five-man teams. Other media outlets have had him on their second teams.
And SDSU’s fifth-place finish in the Mountain West, the seventh-best conference in the nation according to most metrics, might have hurt his chances for the top two teams. The Aztecs still have never had a first team all-American in the Division I era. Cage , Leonard and Flynn all were AP second-teamers. Brandon Heath, Jamaal Franklin, Xavier Thames and Matt Mitchell were AP honorable mention selections. The amazing part: The 6-foot-9 LeDee averaged 7.9 points and 5.3 rebounds in 18.
