When a 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit in the middle of her live interview with local morning show Newshubon Monday, the 39-year-old leader did not lose an ounce of cool. “We’re just having a bit of an earthquake here,” Ardern told host Ryan Bridge. “Quite a decent shake here, if you see things moving behind me. The Bee Hive moves a little more than most,” she laughed, referencing the executive wing of the New Zealand Parliament building in Wellington.
Ardern didn’t flee the interview. In fact, she barely blinked. When asked if she was okay to continue, she said she was “fine, I’m not under any hanging lights.
