‘It feels like you’re back’: Dallas International Film Festival closes on note of revival

Amid sellouts and added screenings, James Faust, DIFF artistic director, called the eight-day festival a success.

Faust hadn’t added up the final totals on the eight-day festival as he took a breath going into the weekend when it returned to a familiar location the West Village Uptown.

DIFF set up its headquarters at Violet Crown Cinema, the former Magnolia Theatre, which was its base four years ago. The Texas Theatre also was a venue and showedChocolate Lizards, a documentary about Fort Worth artist Vernon Fisher, took on added significance when Fisher died days before the festival premiere.Karen Carpenter: Starving for PerfectionBreaking the CodeThe festival was also in reset mode after dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic for the past three years.

“Talking to some of the people who came in, they were saying ‘It feels like you’re back,’"Faust said.
