Both the actual number of crimes and the crime rate per 1,000 residents have declined annually since 2017, according to Allen’s most recent crime statistics report dated Jan.
“We are still learning about what will happen at this location,” she said. “We don’t have any definite answers yet.” Sharon Mayer, CEO of Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce, met with business owners at a regular networking event Tuesday morning. The organization had a counselor on hand for people to talk with and share their feelings.
“We have to continue life as usual. Everybody’s going to be more aware right now of their surroundings, and that’s not a bad thing.” Her company hasn’t looked at making policy changes yet, but all its vans have tracking systems and panic buttons that alert emergency personnel. Her team tells clients about those features.
