Iran launched drones and missiles against Kurdish groups in northern Iraq for the second time in a week
The strikes—which included suicide drones and surface-to-air missiles—caused at least one death in Koysinjaq, some 47 miles east of Erbil, according to Hassan Rahmanpanah, a member of the central committee of Komala, a Kurdish-Iranian political party, and local media outlets.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, another Kurdish party, said the IRGC had targeted a civilian hospital with surface-to-surface missiles in Koya near the Iranian border. “The repeated Iranian violations affecting the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan region of Iraq are unjustified, and constitute a flagrant violation of international norms and good neighborly relations,” the Kurdish regional government said. “As we call on Iran to stop this campaign against the Kurdistan region, we affirm that stability will never be achieved through violence.”
The IRGC said the strikes were a “continuation of the destruction of the headquarters and centers of conspiracy” against “international arrogance mercenaries,” referring to the U.S., Israel and their alleged allies.
