The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a pavement life extension project on Interstate 40 through the city of Holbrook . The 7-mile-long project is scheduled to begin this summer and be completed by late fall 2022.The work consists of removing the existing top layer of pavement and replacing it with an asphalt-mix overlay, which is designed to protect the underlying pavement structure.
The work also includes making spot pavement repairs prior to the placement of the overlay and other related work..Drivers should plan for lane restrictions and reduced speed limits on I-40 as the pavement work is completed between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.The traffic restrictions will be removed each day after work hours and during weekends.ADOT will post information about traffic restrictions and closures as it becomes available.
