The collection with the newly launched London brand fuses luxe streetwear with top-notch tailoring
The allure of Scandi style is never ending. Maximalists will try to simplify the sartorial genre as ‘’ – but, really, it’s an uncomplicated dress-code that the natives of Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen have mastered. A seemingly plain navy knit, neutral pair of utility trousers and canvas tote ensemble can either fall into one of two categories: one that looks nonchalantly fantastic or one that looks hella boring.
Without having to leave the confines of the capital city, you can find that easy-going aesthetic within the retailer’s collections. But this season sees the brand move into a new direction: cue COS’ collaboration with London-based brand Yeboah.; the collection formed between the global brand and Reece Yeboah. For the latter, this marks the debut of Yeboah as a stand-alone label, drawing on the founder’s upbringing between Ghana and London and his complex journey to its inception.
For Yeboah, this marks his re-entry into fashion design. The West London native quickly made a name for himself under his label Saint London, counting Selfridges as a stockist and a fan-favourite of the likes of Future and Lewis Hamilton. But after a cease and desist from the NFL in 2019 – supposedly over its name and use of the Fleur-de-lis in the logo – the brand closed. After some time contemplating where to go next, Yeboah put all his efforts into his next venture.
“COS has been on my radar for some time and vice versa – they saw what I was doing with Saint previously, and eventually, we linked up to discuss this collaboration – the rest is history,” the designer says in the collection’s press release. “I believe COS is the best regarding accessible quality, and we saw an opportunity to combine quality and innovative creativity.”
With tie-dye accents on track tops and joggers, logo-imprinted knitted hoodies and contrast, neon stitching on cargos, there’s plenty to show Yeboah’s streetwear influence on the collection.
