Innovators, funders, seen cementing Houston's place in energy transition
Bobby Tudor, CEO of investment and advisory firm Artemis Energy Partners, at the Future of Global Energy conference in downtown Houston. “Houston has dramatically grown its share of VC funding,” Tudor told the group.
He added that the number of energy transition-related private equity deals has “increased dramatically” in the past two years. But Tudor acknowledged that more needs to be done to connect new sources of capital with startups, and to then connect those startups and new investors with legacy energy companies.
“The folks that know how to scale are the incumbents,” Jim Gable, president of Chevron Technology Ventures, said at the event. He said companies such as Chevron can help scale up technology being created at start-ups or in other organizations.
