Initiative helps students gain work experience while building relationships in the field

The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre is continuing to offer part-time employment opportunities to second-year students in Sault College's Computer Programming.

Among the interested applicants, selected students will be eligible to work eight hours per week during their time with Sault College. Innovation Centre executive director Peter Bruijins said the partnership with Sault College helps students develop their skills while building the technology community locally.

“We want to continue to help develop skills in the IT sector in the Algoma region and partnering with Computer Programming students allows us to help build a community of technology professionals,” Bruijns said. “Our Acorn Information Solutions division provides real world experience for students, making them more desirable in the job market, and we get the opportunity to build up the network of IT professionals though this partnership.
