Robert Collier helped build the electric chair that later claimed his life
INDIANAPOLIS —"It was a pitch black space and you would see a light. I didn't know who it was. It was a picture of a man," Latonya Collier recalls a recurring image she saw in her dreams when she was a sophomore at Martin University in Indianapolis.During her time at Martin University, Latonya was studying criminal justice, with aspirations to become a lawyer.Latonya says a visit to her great Aunt Mildred did the trick.
Collier is described as strong-willed and hot-tempered, with a long rap sheep and only an eighth grade education. A scholar herself, delving into this chapter of her family's history became a passion project for Latonya.
