Phoebe Waller-Bridge made her ‘Indiana Jones’ debut at Cinema Con. As Helena, she’s hot on the tail of Mads Mikkelsen—whose character possesses the titular Dial of Destiny.
The completely out-of-context footage we saw included Ford’s Indiana Jones and, who holds in his possession the titular Dial of Destiny.
“Give me the Dial!” Indy barks at one point, in an example of pure “get off my plane!” Harrison Ford excellence. Later, when quibbling with Waller-Bridge, he exclaims with some exasperation “I just want the Dial back!” Poetry. It would seem that Indy and Helena have a conflict of interest. At this stage in the story she is in pursuit of the talismanic gewgaw for fiduciary reasons. There’s a lot of invective hurled between the two as they zoom around the Tangier casbah, with Helena calling Indy “an aging grave-robber!” and also socking a baddie right in the jaw. At one point, she leaps from one of those little three-wheel tuk-tuk vehicles holding a crowbar. She’s as much of an action hero as Indy is.
The sequence also includes traffic-blocking camels, a donkey, a villain on a motorcycle getting whapped in the face with a bunch of wooden branches, and Harrison Ford growling “come onnnnn” when things aren’t going his way. Alas, Ford wasn’t at the convention himself to smile for assembled exhibitors. But he did include a how-do-you-do video, in which they caught him on an up day., eager to talk about playing the villainous Ursula in the forthcoming “live action” remake of. She called the character a “dishy and conniving broad,” and added “maybe that’s why I relate.” We then saw the sequence from the film in which Ariel, played byMcCarthy’s rendition is good, but not explosive.
