Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny crosses over the line to a Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes after debuting at Rotten out of its Cannes premiere.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is no longer Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie, which is the first Indiana Jones feature without director Steven Spielberg at the helm, was directed by Logan's James Mangold. It will follow Indiana Jones on his final adventure as he and his goddaughter Helena Shaw try and prevent a powerful artifact from falling into the wrong hands during the 1960s Space Race.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A week ahead of the Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny release date on June 30, the Rotten Tomatoes score for the movie has finally crossed over to Fresh. The movie now stands at 61 percent, just over the line to be considered a positive score.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny's Box Office Prospects Are Complicated In addition to the early negative reviews, Dial of Destiny will have to weather several storms at the box office in order to be deemed a success. One point in the movie's favor is the fact that it comes after a relatively slow weekend at the box office. Neither the new R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings nor the quickly sinking The Flash present much of a threat to Indy reaching No. 1 on opening weekend.
However, the early Indiana Jones 5 box office tracking is not looking positive. The title is currently projected to open between $60 and $70 million, considerably lower than the previous film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's $100 million. Considering the fact that it will likely have to make something in the area of $800 million just to break even, this doesn't bode well for the intrepid archaeologist's final adventure.
At the very least, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be followed by another slow week, giving it a chance to become profitable. The following weekend sees the release of Blumhouse's horror movie Insidious: The Red Door, which won't cut into too much of Indy's demographic. However, it will need to make all the money it can in the first two weeks of its run before Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One arrives on July 12 and almost certainly blows it out of the water.
