"Happy Easter. Since we're not able to celebrate the traditional Easter Egg Roll on the grounds of the White House this year, I want to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Easter and read one of my favorite children's books," Trump told viewers in aThe first lady read aloud"The Little Rabbit," a 2019 picture book by Nicola Killen about a little girl whose stuffed rabbit comes to life.
Trump announced March 16 the Easter Egg Roll would be canceled"out of an abundance of caution" because of the coronavirus pandemic, citing the national emergency declaration by President Donald Trump the week prior. The annual Easter extravaganza, which has been held nearly every year since 1878, was to take place Monday on the South Lawn.
