Philadelphia’s Lincoln High School football team announced the heartbreaking news Sunday that senior Syeer Smith has died. “We are sad to announce the loss of Syeer Smith,” the team posted on Twitter. “A family member, a friend, a teammate, & most definitely a fighter. Get your rest 3. We love you!” In a follow-up tweet late Sunday night the team said that a balloon release to “honor his legacy, family, and friendship,” is planned for 4:30 p.m. Monday at its field at 7474 Rowland Avenue.
