The walk portion of the event was two miles around Lancaster City.
Hope, Inspire, Love, an anti-human trafficking nonprofit, hosted the Freedom Walk for Awareness of Human Trafficking in Lancaster County on Saturday.Attendees were able to learn more about human trafficking and attend the 'trafficking simulation,' an immersive experience to learn more about an individual trafficking story.
“When we show up, and we are silent, and we are holding signs and handing out fliers and being a presence in the community. People turn to look and ask, ‘What are they doing?’ and we have had people ask, ‘Can we join you in this walk?’,” said Amy Thurston, CEO of Hope, Inspire, Love.The state of Pennsylvania received 315 reported cases of human trafficking in 2021 and Lancaster County had the highest number of offenses in the state.
