The Duck Pond Fire burning west of Gypsum has scorched around 25-30 acres and forced the closure of I-70 and more than 350 people to flee their homes Saturday. I-70 has since reopened and some evacuations have been lifted
Both directions of the interstate reopened between the Glenwood Springs exit to the Wolcott exit just before 7:45 p.m. after it was closed around 5 p.m. due to the Duck Pond Fire, as it is being called.I-70 is back open both directions between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum. If the winds shift, this closure may be implemented again. Proceed with caution and and watch for crews in the area of milepost 137.
Later that night, Eagle County authorities said due to favorable weather conditions evacuations were lifted for some parts of northwest Gypsum but all other notices will remain in place likely until Sunday evening.
