Storm isn’t expected to make landfall in N.B., but still set to bring a lot of rain, lashing winds and pounding surf to coastal regions
Hurricane Lee's project track, as of Sept. 15, 2023. - Allister AaldersLee's impacts to be felt as the storm tracks into Atlantic Canada this weekend | SaltWireMONCTON, N.B. — With little shift in Hurricane Lee’s track since Thursday, the storm is still expected to make landfall in southwestern Nova Scotia on Saturday afternoon.
The latest from the National Hurricane Centre suggests the storm will keep its Category 1 ranking overnight and into Saturday when forecasters say it will become a post-tropical storm as it rolls through the Maritimes and into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence on Sunday. And for anyone in New Brunswick who thinks a landfall around in N.S. will take the edge off Lee, Aalders says it’s unlikely.
