Cleveland has joined a partnership with Huntington Bank intended to grow small and minority businesses around the region, with the city focusing its involvement on supporting businesses in the Mt. Pleasant, Union-Miles and Lee-Harvard neighborhoods.

That person will provide coaching and training and help connect a to-be-determined number of minority businesses in southeast neighborhoods with city assistance, such as the neighborhood retail assistance program and the storefront development program. Bibb said the partnership was a first step to delivering on his campaign promise to reinvigorate the city’s southeast side, which has long suffered from disinvestment.He stressed that collaboration -- between City Hall and entities like Huntington and its other partners -- is key to helping Cleveland solve its “most vexing problems.”
The money will also help pay for a different Cleveland Neighborhood Progress program, called Contractors on the Rise, which seeks to increase the local pool of Black-owned real estate developers and vendors.
