More thunderstorms Tuesday could lead to additional problems at Newark, JFK, LaGuardia and Philadelphia airports.
Airlines that operate out of Newark Liberty International Airport have canceled 140 flights as of 7:40 a.m. with another 66 scrapped at LaGuardia and 21 more grounded at John F. Kennedy airports, according to. Ten scheduled departures out of Philadelphia International Airport have also been canceled. Dozens more are delayed.
Thunderstorms with strong wind gusts and possible hail are expected to develop as early as midday and threaten the state through the afternoon and evening, forecasters say.Parts of New Jersey already received 3 to 5 inches of rain during Monday’s storms.
