Some 500 public employees took part in the demonstration, which began at 10 a.m. and concluded around noon.

Hundreds of striking federal workers protested outside Pearson airport Thursday morning, prompting airport officials to warn passengers of possible delays.

Some 500 public employees represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada joined the demonstration, which began at 10 a.m. and ended around noon. The airport urged passengers travelling to the airport to leave extra time to account for the possible disruption. “Passengers travelling through Pearson today are advised of the demonstration that may cause delays in accessing the airport,” Toronto Pearson tweeted Thursday morning.

The protest took place at the departures area of Terminal 1, according to a spokesperson for the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, which operates the transit hub. “We did not experience any operational disruptions as a result of the demonstration,” the spokesperson said in a statement to the Star after the event concluded.
