Extreme heat combined with drought and war effects are driving electricity costs this summer.
As the heat increases, so does the need for electricity to cool our homes, and the prices can be astronomical. The U.S. government predicts residential electricity costs will be nearly 5% higher this summer than last year.
Some of the factors in the soaring prices include the war in Ukraine driving up natural gas costs, a severe drought in the West and a national forecast of extreme heat.
