In your column about unexpected bills in retirement, you didn’t address the possibility of long-term care. How can I estimate what those expenses might be in later life? I need this for my parents and me. Good point. I discussed, in an earlier column, budgeting for health-care bills in retirement, including the possibility of long-term-care expenses. Admittedly, though, the discussion was brief—and this question gives me the chance to devote more space to an important topic.
