Shawn Levy opens up about how he will balance making both StrangerThings season 5 and Deadpool3. 'It is really important to me to direct at least one episode in the last season.'
With anticipation high among audiences for both projects, Shawn Levy explains how he will balance making both Stranger Things season 5 and Deadpool 3. After making a name for himself in the director's chair with the likes of the Cheaper by the Dozen and Pink Panther remakes and Night at the Museum, Levy began building an impressive filmography as a producer, helping with everything from the Oscar-nominated Arrival to Tim Allen's Last Man Standing.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In a recent interview with Collider for the Disney+ Night at the Museum animated movie, Shawn Levy offered updates on both Stranger Things season 5 and Deadpool 3. The filmmaker revealed that both projects will actually be in production simultaneously, and that one of his biggest points during discussions with Reynolds and Marvel Studios was that he be allotted time to film at least one episode of the final season for the Netflix series.
In fact, one of the first conversations I had with Ryan Reynolds and Marvel when we started talking about Deadpool was the fact that it was inevitably going to overlap in someway and at some point with the final season of Stranger Things. And it is really important to me to direct at least one episode in the last season. Part of why I feel so close to the Duffers and our cast is that I’ve been lucky to be involved directorially, which is a unique connection and creative intimacy.
Considering both Free Guy and The Adam Project were hits with critics and audiences alike, and were made in a relatively close time span, Levy tackling both Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things season 5 at the same time marks the latest indication of his interest, and ability, to balance two drastically different tones.
Shawn Levy's Upcoming Projects Even outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Upside Down, Levy has a number of exciting projects on his dance card for the future, the most notable being directing a new Star Wars movie, which he will tackle after wrapping Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things season 5.
