The NBA’s youngest coach owes his career to the Spurs and the NBA’s oldest coach

It is that type of wise decision-making that has led Hardy to his job as the youngest active coach in the NBA at age 34. He had also once been the athletic director for Pomona and Pitzer colleges in California, where Popovich cut his teeth as a young coach in the early 1980s. “The answer to every question was, ‘Yes,’” Hardy said. “‘Will, can you …? Yes, I’ll do whatever you ask.’”
Having traded All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert over the offseason, the Jazz entered the 2021-22 campaign looking like a team bent on playing for the best draft pick possible.
