How does Houston ISD's superintendent salary rank in Texas? Here's what the data shows.

Miles’ salary will match what former HISD Superintendent Millard House II was paid afterDespite HISD’s status as the largest school district in Texas, the salary for the district’s superintendent last year was significantly lower than many other districts in the state according to data from the Texas Education Agency.

Generally speaking, a school district superintendent oversees the daily operations and overall performance of a school district. The role comes with a lot of different responsibilities including school policy development, overseeing district staff, budgeting, long-term planning, and community engagement.

Before resigning in 2015, Miles was paid $306,000 as superintendent of Dallas ISD for the 2014-2015, according to state salary data.
