The National Hurricane Center gives a disturbance in the Bay of Campeche a 70% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.

Storm clouds that have gathered in the Bay of Campeche, the southernmost section of the Gulf of Mexico, have caught the eyes of National Hurricane Center forecasters in recent days. The atmosphere there could foster the growth of a tropical disturbance there, allowing it to organize itself into a stronger, rotating tropical cyclone.

Extremely active’ hurricane season still likely despite slow start. What is the latest forecast? “Satellite imagery and surface observations indicate that a broad area of low pressure is forming over the Bay of Campeche,” the National Hurricane Center said Monday morning.

Ranking the worst hurricane seasons in Texas in the past 15 years. The resulting thunderstorms also grow higher and larger, and the system begins to form a center with rotating winds. But when viewed from a satellite, a tropical depression will appear to have little organization. Tropical depressions are not considered a significant weather threat and are relatively weak.

Should you get flood insurance if you’re not in a floodplain? What you should know “Take an hour or two to document what you and your family will do in the event a hurricane approaches,” Hearst newsroom meteorologist Justin Ballard said. “Share that plan with friends, neighbors and extended family so they know where you might be in case communication lines are down.” “Ask yourself what you would need to do to prepare your home for a hurricane strike tomorrow,” he added.
